Altair (2002)

After reading Poesie a Casarsa (Poems in Casarsa) by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Dora Bassi paints the fifteen canvases composing the cycle entitled “Altair, stella della pietà” (“Altair, stars of piety” – translator’s note). The pictorial text translates the theme, conceived by Pasolini, of the feeling of nostalgia for innocence within a narrative of teenager figures of incautious beauty, to whom she adds, as if a present, a landscape made of lacustrian waters and spring-water light, metaphors of the gift on encounter and of human essence.
